Proposed UK payment reforms won’t benefit farmers, according to agronomist poll
A poll of agronomists in the UK reveals that more than half anticipate recently proposed payment reforms will have a negative impact on farmers.
The payment reforms were proposed by Michael Gove, Britain's Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and involve redirecting payments made to farmers under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to a new system of rewarding farmers based on their farming practices and land preservation.
Kynetec recently conducted the poll among its Growing Opinions online agronomist community to determine if they think the reform will have a positive or negative impact on farmers and/or the general public. While many believe it will have a negative impact on farmers, three fifths of the agronomists think the move will benefit the public.
The poll was carried out online in March 2018, amongst a representative sample of 60 UK independent and trade agronomists.
